What critics and audiences are saying

Press Reviews

Miranda Russell is center stage… She has a strong country voice and a gigantic stage presence. An excellent group of musicians is supporting her — but Miranda is the show — a total pro. She has acting skills, natural movement, a beautiful smile, and a whole lot of musical talent and personality that keeps the audience on the edge of their seat.

Rockport's Shalin Liu played a red gold setting to Miranda Russell's multi-faceted diamond… its intimate, 345-capacity setting reverberating Russell's depth, range and sharp control that filleted her audience before they knew she was slicing them… Through it all, Russell displayed supreme confidence, allowing her voice to become the lead instrument in a band of talented and experienced musicians.

A sensational nuance performer who is utterly convincing. A terrific set of pipes.

She is a sure-bet performer with a stunning voice.

Miranda Russell will knock your socks off — should you be wearing any this close to the beach.

Russell's interpretation of Joni Mitchell's songs reveal a true and clear tone reminiscent of Mitchell. But when she sings others' songs, the renditions are hers… Russell had a stunning voice and impressive stage presence. She was fascinating to watch as well as listen to.

Audience

It truly was a gift to be seated in the audience of the Shalin Liu and to be treated to an incredible artistry of voice and accompaniment!
Brave, beautiful selections… And what backup!
It was the BEST night. We laughed, cried, held hands, sang, and loved every minute.
Really, spent the whole evening with a huge smile on my face, when I wasn't slack-jawed with amazement or wiping a tear.
A truly spectacular performance. Best version of Embraceable You I've ever heard.

I have one word for you and that is “magical.” Miss Miranda, resplendent in her red hair and blue jeans… earth mama, funky diva, dixie chick, rock and roll babe all rolled into one… recalling Joni Mitchell, pre-Grammy Bonnie Raitt and a Love Has No Pride Linda Ronstadt among others. She sang Guns and Roses’ Sweet Child of Mine and selections from her lullaby CD in the same set! I was always impressed by Miranda but tonight she blew me away.

I can’t stop playing it! Even after my children were lulled to sleep, I played it again and again. You are the new and improved Sarah McLachlan combined with Linda Ronstadt… Your voice is pure Gold!

Your voice, cadence and intonation are reminiscent of early Judy Collins. Your next recordings should be songs of Gershwin, Cole Porter and other true lyricists of the ’30s and ’40s — for all of us grown-ups! And then, there’s always Sondheim…

Miranda’s concert at the Russell Orchards was a thrilling experience. She is sultry; she moves; she grooves. Her vocal range is incredible, and she transported us from pop to blues to country to Broadway effortlessly. She is pure fun!

Russell's soulful 14 bedtime songs add a sweet, intimate touch to tuck-ins. Traditional tunes plus several covers provide a soothing send-off for tiny listeners.

Russell's voice is soothing and the instrumental arrangements are very tasty. You will hear classics as well as some unexpected pleasures such as "Songbird" and the lovely "Armenian Lullaby." What I find to be perfectly well placed on this recording are the jazz standards "I've Got A Crush On You" and "Summertime." They have that late night, intimate jazz feel to them that really works for me.

An enjoyable collection… Arrangements are pleasant and soothing; nicely soporific, enhanced by a continuity of voice and manner across all cuts.
